Homes for Heroes is a national program that provides savings to people who serve their communities. If you are buying or selling a home in Salem, Oregon, or the surrounding areas, you may qualify for benefits through the program. Here is a look at who may be eligible and how the program works.
Homes for Heroes serves a broad range of professionals who serve their communities. You may qualify if you are a:
Eligibility depends on the specific profession and program requirements. If you are unsure whether you qualify, we are happy to help you determine whether Homes for Heroes may be a fit for your transaction.
We are local Homes for Heroes Real Estate Specialists serving Salem and the surrounding Willamette Valley. When you complete an eligible real estate transaction with us through the Homes for Heroes program, you may receive a Hero Reward.
The amount of the Hero Reward is based on the purchase or sale price of the home and the commission earned on the transaction. The reward is not based on your income or financial need.
There is no cost to participate in the Homes for Heroes program, and the Hero Reward is provided after the eligible transaction closes.
Yes. Veterans, active-duty military members, and reserve members may qualify for Homes for Heroes.
If you are also using a VA loan, Homes for Heroes benefits may be available in addition to your VA loan benefits. We will connect you with an experienced lender who can explain your VA loan options and help you understand how they may work alongside your Homes for Heroes benefits.
If you are purchasing or selling a home with a spouse or partner who works in a qualifying profession, only one person needs to qualify for the Homes for Heroes program for the transaction to be eligible.
For each eligible real estate transaction, one Homes for Heroes Hero Reward is provided per transaction. It is not one reward per qualifying person. If both people in a transaction qualify, the transaction still receives one Hero Reward.
For example, if one spouse is a teacher and the other spouse is not employed in a qualifying profession, the transaction may still qualify. If both spouses are eligible, the transaction still receives one Hero Reward.
If you are unsure whether you or your partner qualifies, reach out to us. We can help you understand the program requirements and determine whether Homes for Heroes may be a fit for your transaction.
